Ridge
Roll Up System for Hoop Houses
The system can be used for opening up overwintering houses
or for retracting black out or shade fabric.
Growers of nursery stock and forestry seedlings understand
the benefits of growing outside during the natural season;
optimal light, better air movement and lower relative humidity
yields more compact growth with less insect and disease problems.
In the spring moving plants and/or removing poly is labor
intensive.
Photoperiod manipulation can be used to cause out-of-season
flowering or to induce dormancy.
Steele Greenhouse Components Inc. offers a low cost system
for hoop houses, which allows poly or fabric to be rolled
up to the ridge and provides intermediate openings. The system
uses a simple strap mechanism and other innovations to hold
the poly against the frame and keep it rolling evenly to the
peak.
The roof can be dropped quickly to protect the crop from inclement
weather.
